The Bush House

Overview

The Bush House is small and intimate, accommodating 10 guests. Owner-managed by Gordon and Sue Morrison, the lodge has a relaxed and informal style.

It has a four-star TGCSA rating, and is a member of Portfolio Collection and member of Greenwood Guides.

There are six en suite rooms. Four of them have private verandahs where you can sit and contemplate the world; one overlooks the garden and waterhole, and another boasts the soothing sounds of a water feature outside the sliding door. All of the rooms are part of the main lodge, so there are no unnecessary long walks to and fro.

The rooms are tastefully furnished, with percale bed linen and fluffy towels. The rooms have air-conditioners and fans, hairdryers, and coffee and tea facilities. The bathrooms have separate baths and showers with a variety of toiletries. 220v electricity, cellphone signal and unlimited wifi are provided.

There is a lounge, cosy pub and reading area, with DStv television (full bouquet) and many DVDs for the children. Meals are served in the breezeway, garden or stunning boma. There is an inside dining area for inclement weather.

The lodge and large, shady garden overlook a very active waterhole. An exciting underground hide at the waterhole can be accessed 24/7 from the lodge garden.

Children of all ages are welcomed, and babysitting facilities are offered. Children under six years of age are not permitted on adult game drives unless the lodge is booked out by one group. “Kiddies Bumble” is offered after breakfast each day for the small children at no extra charge.

Why visit the Bush House?

  • An owner-managed lodge, where our focus is on attention to detail, resulting in our guests feeling genuinely sad to leave
  • Children of all ages are welcome, with the camp and gardens being safely secured by an electrified fence
  • A unique underground hide that borders on a very active large, floodlit waterhole, offering guests extraordinary photographic opportunities
  • A small and intimate lodge that lends itself to either family group bookings, or individual couples, in warm and welcoming surroundings
  • Not a typical lodge, this is an old farmhouse that has been converted into a relaxed, inviting and unpretentious residence

From our guests

"We have travelled all over Africa and had many game viewing experiences. This is one of the best. The staff are attentive and the waterhole is a gem. Experienced four rhinos drinking together. Small herds or elephant several times a day. The living room fireplace with a roaring fire is a warm touch. We have recommended to friends, one of whom is going soon."
